What is standard vision?4

20/20 vision is generally considered to be standard. This does not mean perfect vision, it denotes average vision. A person with 20/20 vision can see objects clearly at 20 feet (6 metres) away.

Below-standard vision ranges from 20/200 to the near-standard 20/25. A person with 20/25 vision can see objects clearly at 20 feet (6 metres) which the average person would be able to see clearly at 25 feet (7.5 metres).

Meanwhile, individuals with 20/15 or 20/13 vision would be considered to have above-standard vision. With 20/15 vision, a person can see at 20 feet (6 metres) what a person with average vision would only be able to see at 15 feet (4.5 metres).

After treatment with wavelight® plus, you may potentially achieve better -than-standard vision.3*

98% of wavelight® plus patients see 20/20 or better

~83% of wavelight® plus patients see 20/16 or better

~45% of wavelight® plus patients see 20/12.5 or better

*In a prospective clinical study of wavelight® plus patients; data gathered at 3 months post-op (n=212).

A vision chart with varying sizes of letters is broken up into three sections. The largest section with seven rows between 20/200 and 20/25 with the largest letters represents the range for poor vision. The row of moderately-sized letters highlighted in blue represents 20/20 standard vision. The bottom three rows with the smallest letters between 20/15 and 20/10 represent better-than-standard vision. This table indicates that the smaller the letters you can read from a certain distance, the better your vision.
